About Me

Welcome! My name is Jessie Ackley. For as long as I can remember, art has been my source of pouring out my creativity, emotions, and imagination. I like to work in any medium: graphite, oil, acrylic, watercolor, clay, etc; but charcoal is my favorite. Creating art is a huge passion of mine and as Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”

I was born and raised in the country outside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I still reside within Sheboygan and I am employeed at Acuity Insurance as a Business Analyst. I have graduated from Lakeshore Technical College with an IT Network Specialist degree.

While I do not have a formal education for art, my experience with it is quite extensive. Since I was little I was always doodling whenver I could and on whatever I could find (to my mother’s dismay). Horses tended to be my subject of choice to draw and that still continues on to this day as horses and riding are another huge passion of mine.

As I grew up, my love for drawing developed into me taking as many art classes in school as I could. I even opted to not take credit for classes just so I could take more art classes in high school. Teachers recognized my artistic talent pretty early on and I was chosen by the school to enter many art shows. When I was in 6th grade, a pointillism drawing of mine of a horse won Best of Show at the Sheboygan County Fair. Throughout all my years of high school I entered many art shows as well and won many awards for my pieces. I was also selected by my art teacher to be given the art award by the school and chosen to be his independent study candiate my senior year. During this independent study, my English teacher asked me to paint him a 10′ x 7′ mural in his room. Considering his passion for hunting, I chose to paint him a bugaling elk. That mural is still in his room at Sheboygan County Christian High School.

After high school, I chose not to go to college for art and instead went down the road of the IT world. But that did not stop me from still pursuing and enjoying my love for art. On top of creating many pieces for myself as inspiration hits me, I have been commissioned by many people to create works of art specific for them. This includes being hired by the CEO of Acuity Insurance to create four large works of art that are currently hanging on display within the Acuity building.

My work is not limited to the pieces shown in my gallery. Contact me directly and we can work on getting a custom piece of mine just for you.
